Incorrect capitalization policy on main page
[edit]Until my edit just now, the main page said this:
- In article names, references to The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints should capitalize the initial The and include a hyphen and a lower-case "d".
However, this directly contradicts WP:MOS, which says this:
- Mid-sentence and mid-article-title references to the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints should not capitalize the initial the[1] and should include a hyphen and a lower-case "d". Example: History of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints not History of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints
These two contradict each other regarding capitalization of the the, when occurring mid-article-title. Examples of each of the two styles:
- List of presidents of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints
- President of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, though this is a redirect
I'm going to be bold and replace the guidance here with that of WP:MOS. But I'm happy to discuss or otherwise reach consensus if there are different opinions. Davemc0 (talk) 19:00, 30 January 2025 (UTC)
Hymnal songs.
[edit]Based on WP:ELYES and other usages, I believe that Hymns in the various CoJCoLDS hymnals can be lined to the pages off of music.churchofjesuschrist.org such as https://www.churchofjesuschrist.org/media/music/songs/as-bread-is-broken?lang=eng (for the upcoming hymnal). This would occur only if there is no page for the Hymn which for a hymn like this (text and music by the same person created in 2018). So first choice is a link to a page on enwiki, for example It Is Well with My Soul, second choice is another language Wikipedia, like God's Gracious Love , and third is As Bread Os Broken. Note, when I get to doing lists for the old hymnals (like 1948/1950) that there may be a fourth choice, where the hymn is no longer at music.churchofjesuschrist.org, but exists elsewhere. For example, https://singpraises.net/collections/en/latter-day-saint-hymns has the 1927 hymnal, so going from there might be better. (though other choices might be to the entire hymnal as one document at archive.org or various pages from other church website documents like https://catalog.churchofjesuschrist.org/assets/c37c224e-89d2-46aa-8dc6-f07a23113f5d/0/64 .
